| Chandel District Police Arrest Woman with Brown Sugar in Chakpikarong |
Chandel District Police on 31 August 2026 arrested a woman from Zion Molnoi Village on charges of possessing suspected narcotics, officials said.
The arrested person has been identified as Hatneichong (37), wife of Thangsei Touthang, a resident of Zion Molnoi Village under Pallel Police Station, Tengnoupal District.
According to police sources, the accused was apprehended from Saluk area under the jurisdiction of Chakpikarong Police Station. During the operation, police recovered six soap cases of suspected Brown Sugar from her possession.
A case has reportedly been registered against the accused, and further investigation into the matter is underway. Police are working to trace the source and intended destination of the seized contraband as part of the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the district.
